Occupancy, ADR, RevPAR and revenue are worked out night by night, so a stay that runs across the end of a month counts in both months, as an accountant or a revenue manager would count it. Every figure can be charted, compared with the period before and exported to CSV.

It also puts online booking on the website a property already has: Solidres can now run as a booking site beside that website, and the booking form that sends guests to it is free.

The release also gives Solidres a place in Joomla’s own administrator menu and a dashboard that opens on today’s arrivals and departures, moves every Solidres update to Joomla’s updater, and makes Solidres pages follow your template’s light or dark mode. It fixes a security issue with bookings made without an account, so we recommend updating. And it starts a clear-out: Complex Tariff and Statistics leave in 4.6.0, and support for Falang is on its way out.

Reports, counted by the night

Open Reports from the Solidres menu, under Reservations. A report that files the whole stay under its check-in date puts all five nights, and all the money, in March, and April looks emptier than it was. Solidres counts each night in the period it falls in, with its share of the booking’s money, so a month’s occupancy and revenue are that month’s. Cancelled and trashed bookings never count, and each currency gets its own figures rather than being added together.

Read at a glance

The headline figures show their change against the period before, above a chart and a sortable table with totals. Every report exports to CSV and prints on light paper, and the screen follows the administrator template’s light or dark mode.

Reports has its own permission. With the ACL plugin enabled, only the groups you grant it in Solidres Options → Permissions see the menu item and the screen. On a Hub site, partners get the same reports on the site for the properties they own or staff, with Hub 2.4.0.

More with the Reports plugin

The new Reports plugin adds Compare with, against the previous period or the same period last year, and Break down by period, property or room type. It adds cancellation rate and lead time to Booking sources, and six more reports: Production, Cancellations, Payments, Balances due, Guests, and Rate plans and coupons. The add-on releases describe each one.

What older bookings can tell you

To count by the night, each booked room now keeps the price of each of its nights, which a booking used to throw away once it was priced, and a booking records when it was cancelled. Bookings made before 4.5.0 have neither. Their room price is spread evenly over the stay, and the report says how much of its figures that covers.

Online booking for the website you already have

Most small properties already have a website, on WordPress, Wix or an agency’s hands, and what they ask for is not a new one but a Book now that is not an OTA link. Solidres 4.5.0 gives them that. In Solidres Options → Website, set Site shape to Booking site and enter your main website’s address: Solidres becomes the booking pages beside it, on an address of their own such as book.your-hotel.com, the way an airline’s booking pages sit beside its website. With Lumina the header carries your logo and a Back to link to your website instead of a menu. The booking site asks search engines not to list it, so your own website stays the result for your property’s name. Rooms, extras, checkout and payment are exactly the same as on a full website, and you can switch back at any time.

On your website, paste the booking form: the same search bar as the Check availability module, with dates, guests and rooms and a search button that open the booking site with the search made, or a single Book now button. It was the Hub’s embed form; it is now part of Solidres and free on every site, and a code pasted from the Hub’s version needs replacing with the new one. Find it under the Solidres menu → System → Booking form, with a preview, a plain HTML version for page builders that remove scripts, and where to paste it in WordPress, Wix and Squarespace. The Getting started card on a booking site asks you to put the form on your website, and ticks when the first search arrives through it.

A back office that opens on today

Solidres in Joomla’s menu

Solidres has its own entry in Joomla’s administrator menu, right below Home Dashboard, with the same groups as before. It replaces the menu that sat beside each Solidres list, so lists use the full width of the screen. On a phone it is behind Joomla’s menu button. The unread count stays on the Reservations link.

Today’s arrivals and departures, first thing

The dashboard icon beside Solidres in the menu opens a Solidres dashboard, with a card for each menu group that follows the features you have enabled and each user’s permissions. At its top, and at the top of Joomla’s home page where everyone lands after logging in, are four live counts: today’s arrivals, departures and in-house guests, and the unread reservations. Each tile opens the Reservations list filtered the same way, so the number on the tile is the number of rows. The Reservations list itself gains an In-house filter for the reservations staying on any day.

Getting started

A new site gets a Getting started card beside the tiles: the steps from a fresh install to a first booking, which tick themselves off as you complete them. Name the property and give it an email address, set the time zone, add room types, set rates, choose how guests pay, enter your Download ID, replace the placeholder text of your pages and make a test booking. Each step opens the screen where it is done, and the card disappears once the required steps are. An established site does not get it, since its steps are long done, but it can be added from System → Administrator Modules.

For staff who run the booking site and need nothing else of Joomla, a custom administrator menu can import the new Solidres back office preset: the Solidres groups, then the website, users, system and help items they need.

Four modules join Solidres

The Quick search module, which finds a reservation from the administrator’s dashboard, and three site modules, Availability, Extras and Tracking, are now part of Solidres. They are free, and install and update with it. A site that has them keeps its modules and their settings.

Updates come through Joomla

Solidres no longer runs an update check of its own. It used to contact solidres.com from your administrator pages, sending the list of your Solidres extensions and their versions. Joomla’s updater finds Solidres updates instead: they are listed in System → Update with the rest of your site, and Check updates on the System page runs that same check.

The Download ID you enter once in Solidres Options now reaches every Solidres extension. Saving Solidres Options writes it to every Solidres update site, installing an extension copies it to that extension’s update site, and every download Joomla makes from solidres.com carries it. Nothing has to be pasted into System → Update Sites any more. The System page shows, for each Solidres extension, whether Joomla can update it, and if not, why.

The add-ons follow: every plugin and module now has an update stream. Most need installing once by hand to get there; the add-on post has the list.

Dark mode that follows your template

Solidres styles used to switch to dark whenever the visitor’s device was set to dark. On a template without a dark mode, such as Cassiopeia, that meant dark Solidres panels, calendars and forms on a light page. Solidres now follows the light or dark mode your template declares, and Joomla’s theme switch: a light template stays light, and a template with a dark mode gets dark Solidres pages with it. The date pickers follow the page too, and printing always comes out light.

Booking and administration fixes

Coupons on apartment pages: a property in apartment mode now shows the coupon field above Reserve, and an applied coupon re-prices the stay on the page. Guests booking an apartment had nowhere to enter a code.

Rate plans without people limits: a rate plan limited per room type, with its adult and child limits left empty, is offered again to searches that give a number of guests.

Manual reservations outside the minimum stay: staff, and Hub partners, can book a rate plan priced by the night for a stay shorter than its minimum or longer than its maximum, for example to fill a one-night gap. Such a plan used to be missing from Choose a rate plan. Online bookings still enforce the limits.

Rate plan dates: saving a daily rate plan with new Valid from or Valid to dates fits its price grid to them again, as it did before Solidres 4.0.

Save as Copy and aliases: a copied property or room type is named Sunflower (2), with the first free alias. A copy used to keep the original’s alias, and so its address on the site. Each property, and each room type, now needs an alias of its own.

The default property: it can no longer be deleted, unpublished or trashed, since it is the one the Check availability module searches, and copying it no longer takes the flag from the original. A site without one gets a notice in the module instead of a broken page.

Saving a property: a save keeps what its form did not show. A Hub partner’s save, whose form shows only part of a property, used to wipe the rest, down to each payment method’s settings. Administrators can now choose which property fields Hub partners see.

Deleting a property: keeps the coupons other properties use, and no longer fails with the Limit Booking plugin enabled.

Security

4.5.0 and the add-ons released with it fix several issues, and we recommend updating:

Bookings made without an account: such a booking could be read, amended, cancelled or overwritten from the site’s customer area by people who had not made it. Each of those now needs a signed-in user whose customer record is the booking’s. Guests still reach their booking from the tracking page with its code and their email address. The Hub, Feedback, Limit Booking and Discount releases carry the same fix in their forms.

Hub partners: a partner could set property fields only an administrator should, such as making their property the site’s default or skipping property approval (Hub 2.4.0).

Links that forward visitors: experience pages could forward a visitor to another site from a link to yours (Experience 2.3.0).

Payments: a PayPal order paid for one booking could confirm another (PayPal 2.0.1), and Stripe Connect’s onboarding answered anyone (Stripe 2.0.0, Stripe for Experience 2.1.0).

Going away

Complex Tariff and Statistics: deprecated, and removed in Solidres 4.6.0. Rate Plan replaces Complex Tariff and edits the same rate plans; Front Desk and Dashboard replace Statistics and keep your saved widget layout. Each takes over as soon as it is enabled. The update to 4.6.0 will stop on a site that still depends on the old plugin, so switch now.

Falang: Solidres support for Falang is deprecated, and removed in a future release. Speedy Translate Lite, which is free, replaces it, and its Falang import copies your translations across; see how to move from Falang to Speedy Translate. The Enable multilingual mode option is gone too: Solidres now finds out for itself which extension translates the site.

Legacy date picker: deprecated, and removed in a future release. The Modern date picker stays the default.

Google Analytics, Google Ads and Facebook plugins: replaced by the new Conversion tracking plugin, which copies their IDs on install. Google Analytics had recorded nothing since Google stopped processing Universal Analytics in July 2023, and all three counted a booking again on every reload of its confirmation page.

Before you update

Take a backup. 4.5.0 adds a database table for the nightly prices, a cancellation date on reservations and two indexes.

Update Solidres first, then the add-ons. Hub 2.4.0, Experience 2.3.0, Custom Field 2.0.2, Dashboard 1.1.0, Front Desk 1.1.0, Reports and Conversion tracking need 4.5.0. On a multilingual site, update Hub, Experience and Custom Field with Solidres: their earlier versions read the removed multilingual option.

Aliases: room type aliases are now unique across all properties. If a double-room exists in two properties, the next save of either asks for a new alias, which changes that page’s address.

Reports permission: if you use the ACL plugin, grant the Reports permission to the groups that should see reports. Until you do, only Super Users have it.

Template overrides: the room step of the reservation form, the coupon form and the apartment booking form have changed, as have several administrator screens. The System page flags any override that needs updating.

Beds24: support ends on 15 November 2026. A site keeps syncing on the versions it has installed, but a Solidres or Channel Manager update released after that date no longer supports Beds24.

Update today

Solidres 4.5.0 needs Joomla 6 and PHP 8.3 or later.
