News

This version is a major release with Joomla 4 and PHP 8 support. We replaced the old Warp template framework with Helix Ultimate. It is already available for download in our Download page for all active BUNDLE/HUB/DEVELOPERS subscribers.

We also developed a new Tabs module (mod_sr_tabs) to replace the out of date Tabs GK5 module.

After this release, we will focus on porting other (but not all) templates to the new framework, the next candidate is Infinity template.

One of the most requested Solidres’s feature is the ability to serve multiple reservation assets or in short: a booking portal, today we are glad to announce the availability of Hub 0.1.0. You can see it in this live demo or download now (for subscribers).

Alongside Solidres 4.5.0 come 36 releases of add-ons, modules and the Lumina template. Hub partners get the new reports for their own properties, two new plugins arrive (Reports and Conversion tracking), the Channel Manager drops MyAllocator and takes in the Inventory grid, and Stripe works on Joomla 6. Above all, every Solidres add-on now updates through Joomla’s own updater.

Alongside Solidres 4.4.0, eleven add-ons and the Lumina template have new releases. Three more add-ons now install as Joomla packages, the Hub and the invoices take up the new tourist tax, iCal sync stops losing imported dates when a download fails, the Experience booking form is rewritten, and Lumina now works in right-to-left languages.

We are very happy to announce two new important releases for Solidres: Infinity Joomla template and Solidres v1.7.0. Infinity is the first Joomla template that was designed with support for both Accommodation & Tour booking, it is also the first template that fully implement the new configurable media sizes feature. We also release updates to other plugins and modules, please see change log below for more details:

Solidres users now have more choice for their Solidres website. Like the previous 8 Joomla templates, Greenery has full support for Solidres and latest Joomla version, it has 04 different color scheme and works well in various devices from desktop to tablet and mobile. Active subscribers are now able to download new template from our Download section.

Every Solidres template we have shipped — Emerald, Greenery, Infinity, and the older Adora, Bluebee, Luxuria, Orient, Revive and the rest — is built on Helix Ultimate. That was a reasonable decision at the time, and it came with a bill you have been paying ever since: a template that cannot render without its companion system plugin, a page grid stored as a drag-and-drop JSON blob, SCSS compiled on every request, and a header, nav and footer whose markup does not live in the template at all — it lives inside the plugin, where you cannot read it, let alone override it.

Today that changes. Lumina is a new Joomla 6 template for Solidres, written from nothing, with no framework underneath it. It is aimed squarely at boutique and independent properties — one beautiful hotel, or a small collection — and it is built around the one journey that matters on a hospitality site: search, choose a room, book.

From the team behind Solidres — a brand-new open-source shopping cart for Joomla 6, built with the same principles that brought you here.

Since 2013 we have been building Solidres — a reservation engine for hotels, B&Bs, vacation rentals, and tour operators who want to run their booking business on Joomla, on their own server, without paying a SaaS toll on every guest.

Today we are excited to introduce a sister product: Solidshop, a free, open-source e-commerce extension built natively for Joomla 6. It is the same philosophy as Solidres, applied to a different problem: your store, your server, your data.

The New Year is coming and we wish you a New Year as cheerful and happy as you are.

In the recent months, we’ve been working on many exiting new features for Solidres which will be available in the beginning of 2017. But let save that for 2017, let talk about our brand new Joomla extension: Speedy Translate.

For as long as Solidres has existed, selling your rooms on Booking.com, Expedia, Airbnb, Agoda or Vrbo has meant the same thing: open an account with a channel manager, re-create your property and every room type in their dashboard, copy mapping IDs back and forth, and then run your business out of two systems that both think they are in charge.

Today that changes. The Solidres Channel Manager is live — a channel connection service we operate ourselves, driven entirely from your Joomla administrator. No second dashboard. No second account. No second vendor.

We’ve added a new Tour feature for our live demo, Luxuria (Bundle + Hub) is the first template that implemented this feature. It helps improving the overall user experience with our live demo. At this moment the Tour is applied for home page and reservation page only.

As you all know, we develop Solidres as well as Joomla templates,  we also encourage other template developers to create Joomla template for Solidres because we believe that will benefit Solidres’s users. We’ve had a great working relationship with our friends at IceTheme and the result is IT TheLodge 3, more details can be found here and you can see it in action here.

Together with our own Joomla templates, now Solidres’s users have more choice for your project. Enjoy!

According to Joomla official website, Joomla 2.5 will reach its end of life on Dec 31, 2014, that means all Joomla 2.5 websites will not receive any updates including security updates. If your website still runs Joomla 2.5, make sure that you upgrade it as soon as possible. If you are planning to start a new Joomla site, make sure that you choose Joomla 3 to avoid unnecessary upgrade later.

You should be careful when choosing a 3rd extensions to install into your Joomla site, avoid all Joomla 2.5 compatible only extensions: there is no point to choose them, we’ve seen a lot of users who stuck with Joomla 2.5 because of some 3rd extension developers do not upgrade their extensions for Joomla 3.

Below is a nice tutorial which cover the process of upgrading from Joomla 2.5 to Joomla 3:

https://www.ostraining.com/blog/joomla/how-to-upgrade-from-joomla-2-5-to-joomla-3/

Joomla 3.4 stable is finally available and Solidres is fully compatible with it. All Joomla users are recommended to upgrade as soon as possible. If you are using Joomla previous version of Joomla 3.x, doing upgrade is very easy with one-click upgrade. If you are still using Joomla 2.5, you should consider upgrade to Joomla 3 as soon as possible.

We are in the process of finalizing Solidres v0.8.1 as well as releasing new updates for commercial plugins, we also re-package our template quickstarts to newest version of Solidres and Joomla, please stay tuned for more news.
