Question about early check outs

We have a new manager at our guesthouse and she is asking about early checkouts, and the recorded fee.

Someone booked for 5 nights, but decided to checkout after 1 night, what should we do?

If we checkin in the system when they arrive, then checkout on the day they leave (ie after the first night) will it alter the fee charged in the system?

As far as I know this is the first time this has happened. I have set up a dummy booking and am waiting until tomorrow to checkout to see what happens, but if you can answer before then, that would be helpful.

You should amend the reservation and change the check out date if you want to update the price, otherwise the price will be the same regardless of checking in/out status.
