Limit No. of Properies and Search Results

I wounder if it is possible to limit the number of Properties shown after the search is done. For instance show only the top 20 hits.
Same thing applies to property list from menu. I want to display only the top 5, 6 or 10 properties but not all of them.

The number of properties in the search page is controlled by a config name "Default list limit" in Joomla Global Config > Site.
