Upgrade for Restaurant Management System

Upgrading is very simple thanks to the built-in updater that has tight integration with Joomla Installer.

To have a smooth upgrade, you should go through the following checklist:

  1. Visit our blog to read about new features/bug fixes/improvements in new versions.
  2. If you are a paid subscribers, make sure that you have all latest versions of your commercial plugins/modules. After upgrade RMS Core, you will need to install the latest version of all commercial plugins/modules to ensure maximum compatibility.
  3. Make a full backup of your website (including files + database).

The upgrade procedures are:

  1. Upgrade RMS Core first: you can upgrade automatically via Joomla Installer (Joomla will automatically download and perform all the upgrade tasks for you) or download new RMS Core package and upload it manually using Joomla Installer.
  2. After RMS core is upgraded successfully, install the latest version of all commercial plugins one by one using Joomla Extension Installer. Note that you don't need to remove the currently installed versions.
  3. Make sure all template override files are updated according to the new version. If you have any issues after upgrading, make sure that you disable all template override for RMS in your templates and try again. Template override is stored in JROOT/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE_NAME/html/com_rms, you can rename or remove this folder.
  4. Make a test reservation at the front end and ensure it is working correctly.

Upgrading does NOT delete or remove any of your data like tables, menus etc. Your data is safe during upgrading.

Uninstallation Restaurant Management System

In this article, we'll walk you through the steps for uninstalling RMS package. A package is something that extends the base functionality of RMS. For example, modules, plugins, and components are all referred to as extensions for RMS package.

For subscribers: if there are any installed non-core plugins, please uninstall them first before uninstalling RMS.

To uninstall RMS package, you can use the Administrator of Joomla! then follow these steps:

1. In the top menu, hover over Extensions and click "Manage → Manage" from the drop-down menu.

2. Select the type of extension you wish to uninstall. You will have the choice between Components, Files, Modules, Plugins, Languages, Library, Module, Package, Plugin, and Templates.

HINT Use the filter feature, type "rms" in the filter to filter out the relevant components RMS package quickly.

3. Find the extension you wish to uninstall and check the checkbox to the left of the extension title. Press "Uninstall" button on below the title "Extensions: Manage".

By uploading package file

Step1: Access to the management of the Joomla (Administrator) and go to menu Extensions → Manage → Install

Step2: In the "Upload Package File" tab, browse for RMS package have downloaded to install.

After installation is complete you can use this RMS at any time by accessing the Components → Restaurant Management System.

Step1: After downloading the file, make sure you extract it first.

Step2: Upload the extracted folder to your Joomla /tmp directory using your FTP client.

Step3: Go to Extensions → Manage → Install. In the Install section, click the Install from Folder tab.

Step4: At the "Install from Folder" field, type at the end of the path the name of the new folder that you have uploaded. Then click on Check and Install button. Installation

Technical requirements for Restaurant Management System

Solidres RMS is built on top of Joomla! CMS, therefore it closely follows Joomla! Technical Requirements for Joomla 3.x. In short, make sure that your server at least has the following software:

  • Joomla 3.7+ (using the latest version is recommended)
  • PHP: 5.3.10+ (with GD library installed)
  • MySQL (InnoDB support required): 5.1 +. Your Joomla must be installed in a separated database.
  • Web server: Apache (with mod_mysql, mod_xml, and mod_zlib, if you want to use compression feature of our templates, your need mod_deflate as well) 2.x + or Nginx 1.1 or Microsoft IIS 7. Apache server is recommended.

  1. Upgrade Solidres Core first: you can upgrade automatically via Joomla Installer (Joomla will automatically download and perform all the upgrade tasks for you) or download new Solidres Core package and upload it manually using Joomla Installer.
  2. After Solidres core is upgraded successfully, install the latest version of all commercial plugins one by one using Joomla Extension Installer. Note that you don't need to remove the currently installed versions. Since Solidres for Joomla v1.8.0, there is a new button "Check updates" in Solidres System Info page, you can use that button to check for new update info of all installed plugins/modules/templates in your site.
  3. Make sure all template override files are updated according to the new version. If you have any issues after upgrading, make sure that you disable all template override for Solidres in your templates and try again. Template override is stored in JROOT/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE_NAME/html/com_solidres, you can rename or remove this folder. Since Solidres for Joomla v1.7.0, you can rename those template overrides in Solidres System Info page, it is more convenient.
  4. Make a test reservation at the front end and ensure it is working correctly.
Note: Since v1.0.0, Solidres no longer stores language file in JROOT/administrator/language or JROOT/language, if you are still storing language files in those locations, please move to
  1. For Solidres component: /administrator/components/com_solidres/language/ && /components/com_solidres/language/
  2. For Solidres modules: /modules/mod_sr_[NAME]/language/
  3. For Solidres plugins: /plugins/[solidres,solidrespayment,extension,system,content,user]/[NAME]/language/

Upgrading does NOT delete or remove any of your data like assets, room types etc. Your data is safe during upgrading.
